About Us

South Santa Clara County is the fastest growing area in the Diocese of San Jose

The First Coeducational College Prep High School in the Diocese of San Jose in over 50 years.

Built from the ground up for the innovative leaders of tomorrow.

With the continued growth in southern Santa Clara County, there is a pressing need for new parishes as well as schools. Currently, 450+ students leave the south county to attend Catholic or private school. These families are stretched to capacity with commutes as long as 90 miles per day. Many other families choose not to provide a Catholic education in order to stay within the community. St. John XXIII College Prep will create a new community for families to educate their children in the Catholic tradition while being able to fully participate in their students’ high school experience. St. John XXIII College Prep will directly serve Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister, south San Jose and beyond.

The Time is Now

Education is one of the most important ways by which the church fulfills its commitment to the dignity of the person and the building of community. It will take the courage of many and the generosity of the faithful to construct this historic project. South County Catholic High School will increase the opportunity for Catholic education in our region, impact the lives of students and families forever and will help strengthen our society by creating faith-based leaders and philanthropists for generations to come.

The Campaign for South County Catholic High School

For more than a decade the dream of a Catholic high school in southern Santa Clara County has been talked about, considered and studied. Through the years leaders for this vision have come and gone, though the idea and need has never diminished. Now after years of dedication and commitment to the dream, South County Catholic High School is nearing reality.

South Santa Clara County is the fastest growing area in the Diocese of San Jose. Yet, the last high school founded in the Diocese was Archbishop Mitty High School in 1964. Today, many students living in the southern part of the county presently travel as many as 90 miles round trip each weekday to attend a Catholic high school.

A college preparatory education, rooted in the Catholic tradition will help prepare our youth in the southern part of our county to achieve their spiritual, social and intellectual potential. With equal attention to academic rigor, faith, compassion, commitment and conscience, a local Catholic high school will also help build a stronger community.
